The Billericay Twinning Association was formed early 1998,
as a non-local authority organisation.
to promote and foster friendship and understanding between the people of
Billericay and other similar communities overseas. The
Association has charters with Chauvigny, Vienne, France and Fishers,
Indiana, USA. |

Fishers came into being in June 1872 when Salathiel Fisher divided his land
into town lots. In those days it was quite common for new communities to spring
up along railroads and Fishers was no exception. The
town is situated about 25 miles from the city of Indianapolis in the
state of Indiana and was formally known as Fishers
Station and originally as Fishers Switch
Fishers in Indiana USA is the first
'twin' with which the Association has developed strong links.
The charter was signed in 1999. |

Chauvigny a medieval market town on the
banks of the river Vienne , is located 23 Kms (30 miles) east of Poitiers and
was built on a high rocky spur. The town grew up at the cross
roads of two major A second twinning was agreed with
Chauvigny, France and the final charter was signed in France in July
2005. |
